March 2014

In February, I added a new ministry opportunity to my list: Covenant Hospice . God had laid it on my heart to pray for the city of Blountstown. Specifically, I was praying for God to show me how to start ministering to my town. I read an ad in the paper that said Covenant Hospice was doing volunteer training in Blountstown. So I decided to check it out. I have a few more trainings to do yet, but I am excited about having this opportunity.

For those who like stats, February brought:

  • 20 working days
  • 3 new weekly programs provided by volunteers - Character Qualities, Celebrate Recovery, and Self-Worth
  • 10 active volunteers
  • 31 hours donated by volunteers
  • 21 religious programming events
  • 12 Reentry Programming events
  • Monthly Attendance - 90
  • First Sunday Worship Service
  • 1800 miles / $300 on fuel
God has truly been good to our family. Pray that we will continue to hear God's heart as we seek to minister to those in prison and in our community. I am working on establishing a mentoring program. Please pray for this opportunity for believers to come along side these men to walk with them through their transition back into society.

February 2014

January was a month of new beginnings. The first Chapel Service at Gadsden Reentry Center on Saturday, January 25, 2014 with 4 inmates attending. January has been a slow month in terms of chapel programs at Gadsden Reentry Center. Please pray for me that I will be patient with the startup process. It appears that I will have to learn some new processes for interacting with DOC since I am working as a contracted employee through the Unlimited Path, Inc. instead of a state employee.

Monthly numbers:
  • 2 Services with 13 total attending
  • Inmate Contacts (visitation in the dorm, work areas, and visiting park plus contact through services and programs) – 280
  • Interviews (orientation, religious, premarital, prerelease, death and crisis notification) – 34
Please pray with us as we look for a more economical vehicle. The round trip every day is 90 miles. My Jeep gets about 20 mpg. I'm hoping for something that gets at least 30 mpg.

Most of all pray that I will not lose focus on the main objective - building His kingdom.

Thanks to all of you for your support of the ministry at GRC.
